The Fourteenth

This is a copy of the email we sent out this afternoon to the entire staff of the school at which we both work:

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Three months ago today, just before the end of last school year, two really good friends sat down together at their favorite sushi restaurant in Kreuzberg and, after a glass or two of Chardonnay, finally got up enough nerve to say how they really felt about each other.

Yesterday, (this time, without any Chardonnay) they called their families to tell them that they’d decided to get married.

It’s like you always hear people say…when you know, you just know.

And…we know.
